Al-Shehabi and the Middle East peace talks

The London-based al-Hayat daily said according to Arab diplomatic sources in Washington that the Syrian former army chief of staff Lt. Gen. Hikmat al-Shehabi was in the US capital during the talks held between Barak and al-Sharaa.
In its December 25 issue, the daily indicated the possibility of al-Shehabi's participation in the coming talks, because Lt. Gen. Youssef Shakour is expected not to take part in the coming peace session because he did not attend former talks sessions due to his illness.
