Two days of quiet in south Lebanon, UN
Lebanon-Israel-UN, Military, 12/24/1999
UNIFIL reported yesterday that "not a single rifle shot was fired" in south Lebanon for the second day in a row, making the two-day period the quietest period in 22 years, said Fred Eckhard, spokesman for United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
He added that a ceasefire had been negotiated by the April Understanding Monitoring Committee to recover the bodies of six Lebanese resistance men.
