Morocco, association of Caribbean states sign accord
Morocco-International, Politics, 12/23/1999
Morocco and the association of Caribbean states have recently concluded in Panama City a framework agreement for cooperation.
The agreement will enable to conceive new forms of exchanges and establish permanent relations of coordination and new south-south cooperation ties.
The agreement was signed on the Moroccan side by Ambassador to Columbia, Panama and Ecuador, Mohamed Maaoulainine, on the fringes of the fifth meeting of the foreign ministers of the association member countries, held in Panama December 9-13, a statement by the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said.
The Moroccan delegation held meetings with the heads of several participating delegations, mainly those of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Bahamas, Grenada, Haiti --chairman of the ministerial conference-- Surinam and Guyane.
Morocco was the first observer country to sign such an accord with the association, which described the move as laudable and promising. Peru and France later on signed similar accords with the association.
