Germany lauds Egypt's economic performance

Director of the Middle East Department in the German Ministry of Economy lauded the success of the Egyptian economic reform program, affirming that Egypt is a vital trade link for Germany.

He expressed the German businessmen's interest in investment vistas in Egypt, noting that this interest grew as a result of the successful economic program Egypt pursues. He added that Germany welcomes the Egyptian exports and is interested in increasing them.

He described the Egyptian-German symposium organized by the German Ministry of Economy last October for the promotion of Egyptian products in the different German towns as successful, adding that Egyptian businessmen must meet the requirements of the German market.

He voiced his country's appreciation of Egypt as a Middle East country of strategic importance and highlighted the bilateral economic ties binding the two countries.

He further referred to the statement delivered by President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak before the COMESA in 1996 where he called for adopting open-door policy and pumping new investments into world markets. He said Mubarak's statement is an evidence that Egypt is determined to succeed and is prepared for the challenges ahead.

He said that the Egyptian exports must not be confined to the field of agriculture alone, but must stretch to industrial domains, adding that Egypt has potential for opening its markets to world competition and attracting more foreign investments.
