Rabat hosts colloquy on the late King Hassan II

A colloquy on the political and human dimension of the late King Hassan II and on his stands on Islamic issues is being held in Rabat with the participation of scholars from all over the Islamic world.
The colloquy will discuss the scientific personality of the late king through testimonies of participants in the Hassanian religious lectures held in Morocco on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The opening of the colloquy last Saturday was marked by addresses on behalf of theologians from the Maghreb, the Arab world and Africa.
Speakers highlighted the late king's qualities and farsightedness as well as his open-mindedness that enabled the Moroccan society to happily combine authenticity and modernity. The late king's endeavors to cement Islamic ranks and his contribution to consolidate Islam in Africa, especially through the building of mosques, were equally underscored by participants.
The colloquy will last all through the month of Ramadan.
The Hassanian lectures, instituted by the late King Hassan II, are held on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, when renowned Muslim scholars from all over the world come to Morocco to give lectures on a variety of topics dealing with all walks of life: religion, culture, science...
King Mohammed VI who is perpetuating the tradition has so far chaired two lectures.
