Egypt-Russia, Politics, 12/20/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa has received a message from Russian President Boris Yeltsin to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak connected to the latest developments of the Middle East peace process.
The message was handed over to Moussa by the Russian president's special envoy to the Middle East, Vassily Serdin, during a meeting held in Cairo on Saturday.
Talks during the meeting, dealt with the importance of abiding by resolutions of international legitimacy and the land-for-peace principle with a view to materializing a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
Following a similar meeting with Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid held later in the day, Serdin said that views were identical on the Middle East peace process, which has to proceed with UN resolutions and the "land-for-peace" principle.
For his part, the AL chief said he had received a message from Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, explaining Moscow's "viewpoint on the developments of the Middle East peace process."
