Mubarak starts Arab gulf tour
Egypt, Politics, 12/18/1999

President Hosni Mubarak starts today a multi-nation Arab tour that will take him to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.

Mubarak's talks with leaders of the three Gulf states will cover the Middle East peace process, in light of the latest developments on the Syrian-Israeli track and Israel's failure to abide by the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement.

Developments in the Gulf region and Sudan, where President Umar Bashir has declared a state of emergency and dissolved the parliament, are also on the agenda of Mubarak`s talks with the leaders of the three countries.

Gulf political sources believe that Egyptian-Gulf relations are winning an increasing boost and a marked flexibility.

They maintain that Arab investments in Egypt will be examined during Mubarak`s talks in the Gulf region.
