Erekat and the Syrian track
Palestine, Politics, 12/18/1999
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat has expressed his hope that the resumption of peace negotiations between Syria and Israel will result in alleviating the tension between Syria and the Palestinians in the service of the Arab negotiators on all tracks with Israel.
In an interview with Sawt al-Arab radio on Friday, Erekat added that negotiations on all tracks with Israel will not be easy, saying it is a matter which needs the convening of an Arab summit or a five-member meeting or a coordination meeting in order to discuss urgent issues such as water, the refugees and the Palestinian state.
Erekat stressed the importance of making a Syrian-Palestinian coordination at this phase of negotiations to achieve Arab interests.
