Egypt-Algeria-OAU, Economics, 12/17/1999
Algerian President Abdelaziz Botueflika received an invitation from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that included inviting him as chairman of the Organization of African Unity to attend the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) conference that will be held on February 28 and 29.
The message said that Egypt called for this conference out of its adherence to enhancing economic cooperation among the African countries in light of its membership in the joint market for East and South Africa, COMESA, which is one pivot of the African economic group which aims at establishing a collective joint African market in the year 2020.
The message said the conference also aims at identifying the investment opportunities and trade the COMESA member states provide on the international level, adding that this conference will be attended by officials in the COMESA member states and a large number of businessmen, as well as those in charge of the major companies and corporations in the assembly and the rest of the world.
