The elections in Bahrain

The ruler of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani on Thursday announced the organization of a nearby municipal elections in which women have the right to take part.
The Gulf News Agency quoted Sheikh Hamad as saying in a speech he read on the occasion of the country's national day that the newly elected Bahrain's municipal council will enjoy authorities as marking the true beginning of people's representation at the root base.
Bahrain had witnessed the first municipal elections in 1919. It is, the second Arab Gulf state which offers women the right to take part in the elections following Qatar. Women in Qatar took part in the municipal elections in March this year.
