Tunisian secretary of state for administrative reform in Morocco
Morocco-Tunisia, Politics, 12/16/1999

Tunisian Secretary of State for Administrative Reform Abdelhakim Bouraoui is currently visiting Morocco for talks on cooperation in all administration-related sectors.

Bouraoui told reporters upon arrival in Rabat on Wednesday that his visit is meant to upgrade cooperation between the two states, in line with the accord on administrative development concluded last June.

Under the accord, the two states pledge to trade experience in matters of administrative reform, boost cooperation in the field of administrative research and studies and exchange visits of officials in charge of administrative promotion.

The accord equally provides for cooperation in the field of civil servants' training with the aim to ease administrative procedures and improve the services extended to citizens, businessmen and investors.

Morocco had devised a plan to reform the administration. The plan covers, inter alia, the reform of administrative structures, payment systems, recruitment and promotion conditions, retirement pension systems, mobility of civil servants and redeployment of staff.

The reform also targets the promotion of administrative devolution, improvement of citizens' access to public services, and easing of administrative procedures.
