On the decisions taken by the Sudanese president
Sudan, Politics, 12/16/1999

Sudanese Minister of Culture and Information Ghali Salah Al-Din has stated that the decisions taken by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir which included the dissolving of the parliament and declaring the state of emergency were steps towards liberating the political will.

He said this move will relaunch the government into the next political phase, the phase of political reconciliation with political groups in order to formulate a new political status and make elections in which all groups in the Sudanese territories will take part.

In an interview he made on Wednesday with Sawt al-Arab radio on Monday, Salah Al-Din added that the Sudanese street has shown backing for the measures and decisions taken by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his government and that the Sudanese opposition understands these steps, which serve the interests of national reconciliation.
