Senegal backs Morocco's world soccer cup bid
Morocco-Senegal, Sports, 12/15/1999

Senegal on Tuesday officially voiced backing to Morocco's bid to host the 2006 World football Cup finals.

Senegal backs Morocco and is ready to wage a campaign alongside Morocco to promote the bid, Senegalese youth and sports minister, Uiba Gueye, said at a meeting with Driss Benhima, deputy chairman of the national committee in charge of Morocco's candidature.

Benhima arrived Tuesday in Dakar part of a 15-African nation tour to sway support to the Moroccan bid to host the planetary competition.

Morocco is competing with South Africa, Germany, England and Brazil. FIFA will chose the host country next July.

During his stay in Dakar, Benhima handed President Abdou Diouf of Senegal a message from King Mohammed VI.

After the meeting, Benhima lauded President Diouf's backing to Morocco's bid.
