Jordanian deputies ask the Iranian president to give back the Emirate Islands to its owners
Jordan-Iran, Politics, 12/15/1999
30 deputies in the Jordanian Parliament sent a note to Iranian President Mohammed Khatami, in which they asked him for Iran's withdrawal from three Gulf Islands it occupies and to give them to United Arab Emirates, which claimes sovereignty over them, saying that this case is of the most important ones on which strong and stable Iranian - Arab relations are established.
In their message, which was delivered to the Iranian embassy in Amman yesterday, they said this fraternal call to the Iranian president is based on mutual respect, unified history, neighborhood relations and joint beliefs.
The message asked for taking a brave and historic decision to give back the three islands, which it said are considered an integral part of the UAE's lands.
