Events in Sudan top agenda of Mubarak, Gaddafi talks

Egypt and Libya have expressed their full support for the Sudanese leadership and legitimate decisions taken by Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir for maintaining unity of ranks and achieving security and stability for the brotherly people of the Sudan.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Commander of the Libyan Revolution, underlined in the joint communique issued at the end of their talks yesterday in the Libyan capital, the importance of reactivating the Egyptian-Libyan initiative for achieving national reconciliation in the Sudan.
The two leaders rejected any attempt of interference in the domestic affairs of the Sudan and underlined respect for the right of the brotherly people of the Sudan to run their affairs according to their higher national interests.
Mubarak yesterday visited Libya in response to an invitation by the Libyan leader in the context of the sustained consultations between the two neighboring states for "tackling issues of common interest to both peoples and all sisterly countries of the region."
Both leaders discussed the latest developments in the Sudan and measures which have been taken by the legitimate leadership for correcting positions in the interest of the Sudanese people and their higher interests mainly maintaining territorial integrity of the Sudan.
Immediately upon President Mubarak's arrival in Tripoli at 14.00 p.m. yesterday, he held a tete-a-tete meeting with the Libyan leader for tackling a number of issues mainly the latest events in the Sudan. The two leaders expressed their deep interest in the latest development which resulted from dissolving the Sudanese parliament and declaration of a state of emergency.
They also discussed the developments of the Egyptian-Libyan initiative for ending the civil war in the Sudan and maintaining Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Presidents Mubarak and Gaddafi made a telephone call to the Sudanese President and were assured about the situation in the Sudan. They underlined the support by Egypt and Libya for the legitimate decisions which were recently taken in the Sudan.
Minister of Information Safwat Al-Sherif and Foreign Minister Amr Moussa have stressed the importance of the summit meeting between the two leaders. The Minister of Information said the meeting came in the context of the sustained consultations between the Arab leaders in the light of the successive Arab developments and the situation in the Sudan.
Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said the Sudanese topic was given prominence by the summit and the ministerial meetings. He said the two leaders held a session of talks after the Iftar (breakfast) banquet during which they addressed issues of common interest.
President Mubarak was accompanied by Minister of Information Safwat Al-Sherif, Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ahmed El-Darsh, Minister of Finance Medhat Hassanein, Chief of the Presidential Cabinet Zakaria Azmi and Political Advisor to the President Ossama Al-Baz.
