Tourism in Morocco picking up with a 18.7% increase

A total of 2,039,751 million foreign tourists visited Morocco in the first ten months of 1999, an increase of 18.7% compared to the same period of last year, show figures of the tourism department.
European countries accounted for 1,691,324 tourists, North American countries rank second with 137,277 followed by the Middle East with 62,162 tourists in the ten-month period.
France is way ahead with 725,372 tourists visiting Morocco followed by Spain (218,063), Germany (192,693), the United Kingdom (125,667), the United States (110,889) and Italy (110,094).
