King Mohammed launches Ramadan solidarity operation
Morocco, Culture, 12/13/1999
King Mohammed VI launched over the weekend at Bou Knadel (15 km north of Rabat) the solidarity operation for the fasting month of Ramadan.
The King later went to Kenitra (50 km north of Rabat), where he visited a center for the distribution of meals for the poor during the holy month.
Some 1.74 million meals will be distributed to 200,000 households in 506 communes in Morocco.
The Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation, which sponsors the operation, had said that a budget worth $ 4.1 million was allotted to the charity campaign.
The sum is derived from the $ 15.8 million raised in donations during the second national campaign for the struggle against poverty, staged early last November.
