Egypt, Culture, 12/13/1999
Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni stated that 2.5 billion viewers from all over the world will watch Egypt's celebration of the third millennium, which will be held in front of the Egyptian pyramids with the presentation of an electronic opera entitled "The 12 Dreams of the Sun," composed and directed by the French musician Jean Michael Jarre.
Farouk Hosni told ArabicNews.com that the music for the celebration is a mixture of Oriental, Egyptian and world music with laser beams reflecting images on the bigger pyramid, a symbol of the ancient Egyptian Pharaonic civilization.
He said his country celebrates with the civilization of 7,000 years and not with the third millennium, in reference to the Pharaonic civilization.
