Moroccan 2006 World Cup campaign in sub-Saharan countries
Morocco, Sports, 12/10/1999
The high commissioner in charge of the promotion of the Moroccan bid to host soccer's World Cup final rounds in the year 2006, Driss Benhima, is expected Tuesday in Dakar, the first leg of a sub-Saharan tour to 15 African countries.
In Dakar, Benhima is slated to meet several officials and meet journalists in a press-conference on progress made by the Moroccan bid. The Senegalese football federation's president, Oumar Seck, and music star Youssou N'dour were recently made ambassadors in Rabat for the promotion of the Moroccan candidacy.
In July, FIFA will decide which of Morocco, South Africa, Germany, England or Brazil will be playing host to the final rounds of the 2006 World Cup.
