Israel, SLA deny Lahd resignation
Lebanon, Politics, 12/10/1999
News reports from south Lebanon said the Israeli Army's leadership agreed to a resignation submitted by the leader of the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia, retired Lt. Gen. Antoine Lahd, but a spokesman for the Israeli army denied the resignation, while the SLA leadership in Marjyoiun told reporters that such reports are "baseless."
Meanwhile, the secretary general of the Hizbullah Party, Hassan Nasrallah, warned the "hirelings" who are besieging the occupied Eita al-Jabal town that Hizbullah would punish them.
He stressed that the continued siege of the town, attacking its people and arresting its youths will push the Islamic resistance to react roughly to this matter.
