Sudanese Parliament hails decision not to allow US envoy in country
Sudan-USA, Politics, 12/9/1999

The Sudanese Parliament agreed on a report that hails not allowing the U.S envoy Harry Johnston into Sudan and urged regional and international organizations to support Sudan against anticipated US threats.

The parliament ratified a report urging this in a session held yesterday under the chairmanship of the deputy chairman of the council, Abd El-Aziz Sheddo, as the parliament called for confirming the principle of discussion to tackle bilateral relations between Sudan and the USA in the framework of mutual respect and respecting Sudan's sovereignty.

The parliament also condemned the US ratification of a law allowing the administration to provide food aid to the Sudan People's Liberation Army outside Operation Lifeline, which is supervised by the UN.
