Strike in medical and pharmacy schools of Rabat, Casablanca
Morocco, Economics, 12/8/1999

The medical and pharmacy schools of Rabat and Casablanca started today a two-day strike in all departments, except in emergency wards.

A union release said the stoppage is meant to force genuine dialogue on faculty grievances.

In secondary education schools a 48 hour stoppage started Tuesday and major unions said the first day of strike was a total success. Sit-ins were staged before the education ministry delegations in various cities on Tuesday and a sit-in was observed this Wednesday before the Ministry offices in Rabat.

The National Education department reacted issuing Tuesday a communique saying it would deal with grievances it can solve and carry on joint efforts with other departments to meet material claims of teachers and staff.
