Abbas Madani urges end to cooperation with Bouteflika
Algeria, Politics, 12/7/1999
Abbas Madani, the historical leader of the prohibited Islamic Salvation Front in Algeria, urged an end to the political cooperation with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
In a message from his house, where he is under house arrest, Madani accused the Algerian president of backing off from his promises to reconcile with the front.
Madani also criticized the military wing of the front, the Islamic Salvation Army for ratifying an agreement with the army according to which they fight together the Armed Islamic Group, which refuses to consider a two-year truce.
