Jordanian Muslim Brothers confirm resignations over Hamas issue
Jordan, Politics, 12/7/1999
One member of the shoura council of the Muslim Brothers group in Jordan has confirmed news published by the Jordanian weekly al-Majd last week that ten members of the council submitted their resignations from the council in protest of "loose attempts" made by the Muslim Brothers' leaders on the question of arresting and then expelling Hamas leaders from Jordan to Qatar.
The paper said that the member expressed in a statement to it his regret over the denial of the spokesman for the Muslim Brothers group, Jamil Abu Baker, of the news of the resignation.
He stressed that the final aim of the resignation is to dissolve the current shoura council, and hold a new election to dissolve the current executive bureau and pave the way before choosing a new council that will be more "solid and determined."
