The first bookshop specialized in books on Islam and Islamic culture published in the Arabic and Spanish languages has opened in the Moroccan northern town of Melilia, under Spanish rule. According to Spanish news agency EFE, the bookshop, an initiative of "Badr" association, will meet the increasing needs of the city inhabitants.
According to the association's chairman, in addition to books, the library sells medical plants, perfume essences, rosaries and audio-visual tapes on pilgrimage to the Islamic holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
He stated that the move is meant to disseminate Islamic religion, thought and culture in the city where a majority of inhabitants are Muslims.
