RAM flights resume today
Morocco, Politics, 12/3/1999
Trade unions and the Moroccan carrier "Royal Air Maroc"(RAM) management reached Thursday night an agreement putting an end to the strike crippling the airline since Nov 30.
For most Moroccan airports, it was business as usual this Friday morning except for extra flights to make up for canceled and delayed flights. The deadlock ended in the wake of late-night meeting Thursday gathering the minister of social development and solidarity, employment, vocational training and government spokesman, Khalid Alioua, Transport Minister Mustapha Mansouri, "RAM" general manager Mohamed Hassad, and trade unions.
Strikes started when management rejected social claims by the staff and turned down every move to launch constructive dialogue, a press-release circulated by the unions early this week said.
