OAPEC starts meetings in Cairo tomorrow

Syrian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Muhammad Maher Jamal left Damascus on Thursday for Egypt, leading the Syrian delegation to the 63rd meeting of the council of the ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OAPEC), due to be held in Cairo on December 4.
In a pre-departure statement, the minister said the aim of the meeting is to discuss matters debated on the agenda of the council pertaining to OAPEC's budget, developments concerning world oil markets and its reflections on the Arab states which are members in OPEC, as well as preparations for the seventh Arab energy conference which will be held in Cairo in the year 2002.
OAPEC includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Kuwait and Syria.
