Some 24 Israeli soldiers flee their positions in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 12/2/1999

News reports from south Lebanon on Wednesday said that some 24 Israeli soldiers left their positions in south Lebanon, returning to their houses due to the operations carried out by the Lebanese resistance.

Meanwhile, Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery on Wednesday bombarded al-Zaatar mountain, the surroundings of the Eita al-Jabal town, Tabnin, Barachit and Abu Rashid woods.

Simultaneously, the Israeli warplanes carried out provocative and mock raids at low altitudes over the western Bekaa.

On Tuesday night, the Israeli artillery bombarded the woods of Maidoun and the al-Rahayat hill. More than 20 Israeli explosive charges were dropped.

On Wednesday at dawn, the Israeli forces shelled the woods of al-Rayhan and the outskirts of al-Qatrani and al-Sarieira town.

Lebanese security sources said the bombardment was accompanied by a mopping-up operation using machine guns in the al-Daher mountain heights and Meimas.
