Mauritania prevents a demonstration by the opposition

The Mauritanian government on Sunday prevented the opposition parties from organizing a people's march on Thursday in protest of the rapprochement with Israel.
Leaders of the opposition who held a meeting to discuss the steps to be taken later said that the minister of the interior, Dahould Abdel Jelil, had handed down the prevention decision in a "tough expression without giving any justification for this measure."
These parties had denounced Mauritania's decision to raise diplomatic representation with Israel to the ambassadorial level.
