Assassinating Hachani will not stop Algerian reconciliation, minister says
Algeria, Politics, 11/29/1999

Algerian Minister of Justice Ghaouti Mekamcha said that the track of the civil rapport and reconciliation is continuing and that all the Algerians assured this despite the assassination of Sheikh Abdelkader Hachani last week.

He said that the positive reaction of Algerians toward this incident proves that there are few people against reconciliation, and that this incident will not cause Algeria to retract from its position.

The minister said Algeria will push forward to regain reconciliation and civil rapport in the country, saying in a special interview published in the Egyptian newspaper al-Ahram today that an independent judicial investigation is currently being made to learn the dimensions and reasons to this horrible crime to discover those who carried it out.
