673 AIDS cases in Morocco

The said number of AIDS cases in Morocco reached 673 as of last October, among which are 69% men and 31% women.
An official in the Moroccan Health Ministry said yesterday that 33% of the cases are among persons whose ages vary between 15 and 39 years, while the ages of 46% of AIDS victims vary between 30 and 39 years and 14% are between 40 and 49 years old.
It added that the percentage of AIDS transmitted through the sexual contact remains the highest, increasing to reach 74% of the total cases, clarifying that the first AIDS case in Morocco was announced in 1986.
