Gulf Cooperation Council leaders commence their 20th session in Riyadh today

The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states are commencing today their 20th session in Riyadh, under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia's King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz.

Along two days, the council will review developments of the council's joint work in all political, security, military, economic and legal fields since the last session.

The leaders will discuss the reports and recommendations of the consultation committee, the ministerial committee, and the ministerial council, as they will focus on security and military aspects.

The leaders are to agree on a unified customs union scheduled to start in March 2001, in addition to encouraging international external investment, maintaining the level of petroleum prices and not exceeding the planned shares of production till OPEC's coming meeting.
