Bishop of Canterbury: We will exert efforts to lift sanctions from Iraq if Iraq comply

In a press conference he held yesterday at the conclusion of his visit to Cairo, archbishop of Canterbury George Carey and head of the official Anglican Church in the UK said "We realize the importance of the humanitarian side of the Iraqi crisis, yet I know that the answer of the UK government will link uplifting the sanctions to Iraq's submission to the United Nations resolutions."
Carey stated that he received recently an Iraqi delegation including political, civil and religious leaders, as they asked him to exert efforts and support lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
