Aziz: What is prepared in UN Security Council concerning Iraq unacceptable
Iraq-UN, Politics, 11/27/1999
Iraq confirmed its opposition to the draft being discussed by the United Nations Security Council to suspend the sanctions and described it as a cheat.
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Aziz said yesterday he does not know whether Washington will succeed or not in issuing this draft, yet it is certain for Iraq that what is currently being prepared in the Security Council is unacceptable, adding that the draft which is currently being studied is the basis of a draft presented by the UK with US support which proposes to suspend economic sanctions upon the return of UNSCOM inspection teams and achieving the disarmament requirement.
