Egypt asks NATO to evacuate the area from mass destruction weapons
Egypt-Israel-NATO, Politics, 11/24/1999

Egypt asked NATO to support the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's initiative to make the Middle East an area free of weapons of mass destruction and his call for convening an international conference to combat terrorism.

Egypt's ambassador in Belgium, Raouf Saad, authorized for NATO's file in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, said the discussion between Egypt and NATO tackles Israel's ownership of nuclear weapons and means of reaching a joint security vision.

He also warned of Israel's continuation of owning nuclear weapons, which will increase the search for owning nuclear weapons, saying that when a state owns nuclear weapons, the other countries will also have the weapons instead of moving toward a just and comprehensive peace in the area.
