Syrian, Russian businessmen for boosting trade relations
Syria-Russia, Economics, 11/24/1999
The chairman of the federation of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Ratib al-Shalah, and the Russian state minister, who is also the chairman of the general assembly of the Russian People's Union, Ramadan Abdul Lateepov, on Monday discussed the trade and economic relations existing between Syria and Russia.
The two sides also discussed measures which can help improve the level of trade exchange between the two countries. After the two sides outlined the reasons behind the weakness of trade exchange between their two countries, they indicated the effective role that can be played by the chambers of commerce in boosting these relations.
Abdul Lateepov asserted that the economic system in Russia is being reconstructed altogether and that there is a project to create a chamber of commerce to coordinate the ties with Arab businessmen.
He invited Syrian businessmen to hold exhibitions in Russia and make use of the facilities and exemptions to be offered for organizing exhibitions, adding that there are vast areas for cooperation between the two countries.
