Lebanese premier says measures in Palestinian camps in Lebanon are for security purposes
Lebanon, Politics, 11/22/1999
Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss has asserted that the Palestinian camps in Lebanon are not besieged, rather they are under "ordinary security measures."
Replying to a question concerning a French official, a member in the April Understanding Monitoring Committee, who said the unilateral Israeli withdrawals will create problems concerning security, the Lebanese premier said: "We wish the withdrawal will be made in line with a settlement agreement within the context of the inseparability of the Lebanese and Syrian tracks so as such an Israeli pullout will be organized."
Al-Hoss added, "In case the talks are resumed, resolutions 425 will reflect the Lebanese stand. We demand Israel's withdrawal from the Lebanese lands it occupied to the internationally-recognized borders according to the resolution."
