WB and Morocco assess progress in WB-sponsored fisheries project

Moroccan fisheries minister, Thami Khyari, reviewed at a meeting with a World Bank delegation progress made in a project to support the development of fisheries product.

A statement of the Moroccan fisheries department recalls that Morocco and the World Bank signed last September a loan agreement under which the bank grants technical and financial contribution to the project.

Khyari and the WB delegation, led by Doris Kohen, head of rural development, water and environment at the bank's middle east and north africa regional office, were satisfied over the start of the project, as a first fruitful and dynamic stage of cooperation between the two sides in fisheries realm.

They also examined cooperation in fisheries scientific research, development of coastal areas, environment protection, the marketing of sea products and support to professional organizations.
