Iraq-Israel, Politics, 11/20/1999
The Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot reported yesterday that Tel Aviv will ask Iraq for more than $1 billion in compensation for damages caused by the Iraqi Scud missiles during the Gulf War in 1991.
The newspaper said Israel will ask Iraq during the United Nations' meeting that will be held in Geneva regarding compensation to pay $910 million to the injured countries and for the additional defense costs which resulted from deploying patriot missiles and recruiting a part of the reserves, as well as for the value of other equipment.
It will also ask for $103 million for the financial damage that resulted from the Scud missile strikes in Israel.
