Pope John Paul visits the Middle East in March

The embassy of the Vatican in Cairo said yesterday that Pope John Paul II will make a tour at the end of coming March 2000 of countries of Middle East that includes Israel and the lands of the Palestinian government in celebrating the third millenium.
A press statement said the Vatican's mission will arrive in Israel at the beginning of the coming month to prepare for and coordinate the visit of Pope John Paul, adding that a ministerial committee was formed under the chairmanship of minister Haim Ramon to prepare for this visit.
The Pope,'s visit to Iraqi in this tour was not announced, as the Vatican had announced the Pope's intention to visit Iraq in his suggested tour which stirred a wide debate.
