D'Alema to visit Libya at the beginning of December
Libya-Italy, Politics, 11/19/1999
The Italian Cabinet on Wednesday evening said that Italian Prime Minister Masimo D'Alema will visit Libya on December 1 and 2. It is the first visit for a Western prime minister to Libya since 1992. On April 5 this year the UN Security Council suspended the sanctions imposed on Tripoli since April 1991.
The UN Security Council took this decision after Tripoli had handed over to the Scottish law the two Libyans who are suspected of being involved in the crash of a US plane over Lockerbie in Scotland, resulting in killing 280 persons in 1988.
