Syrian vice president, parliament speaker confer with German MP

Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam met on Wednesday in Damascus with the deputy speaker of the German federal parliament, Petra Plass. Talks between the two sides dealt with the situation in the region and the stalemated Middle East peace process.
Khaddam briefed Plass on Syria's stances towards the Middle East peace process and Syria's readiness to resume talks from the point at which they broke off.
Earlier in the day, Syrian Parliament Speaker Abdul Qader Qaddoura discussed with the visiting German MP "bilateral relations and means of developing them."
