Egypt, Politics, 11/17/1999

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said that Egypt has a draft concerning the topic of security in the Mediterranean Sea basin and its relation to the existing problems in the region, emphasizing the importance of working to solve these problems.

He added in answering journalists' questions before he leaves Cairo today heading for Istanbul to attend the meetings of the summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that partners from the Mediterranean countries in the organization have a draft concerning the issue of security in the Mediterranean Sea.

Moussa said that Egypt speaks about a security concept that should not deal either with nuclear weapons or with the weapons of mass destruction, adding that the security concept is concerned with stability and the economic conditions as well as all the raised issues.
