King Abdullah invites the French to invest in his country
Jordan-France, Politics, 11/17/1999

On Tuesday, the Jordanian king continued his state visit to France by meeting with French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin.

Three agreements were signed pertaining to exempting Jordan from debts it has to pay to France estimated at a cost of 100 million French francs, approximately US $17 million; to convert debts estimated at 400 million French francs into investments in the sector of social development and the environment; and facilitating debt services at a sum of 128 million French francs.

Meanwhile, Jordan's King Abdullah II has asserted the need that "the awaiting for solution" will ensure the Palestinian people's achieving their rights, including the right to establish an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as a capital.

The king expressed his great satisfaction over the identical views between Jordan and France encouraging the Israelis and the Palestinians to proceed in the final status negotiations.
