Saudi Arabia, Egypt for a just Middle East peace

Saudi Arabia and Egypt have underlined the importance of continued work to strengthen Arab solidarity based on total commitment to the Arab League charter, the joint Arab defense agreement and Arab economic cooperation to restore all Arab rights and strengthen Arab security.
This was expressed in the final statement of the ninth session of the joint Egyptian-Saudi higher committee under the chairmanship of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa. The statement was released on Monday evening.
The two sides asserted that a durable peace in the Middle East should be just and comprehensive and based on full commitment to and implementation of all international legitimacy resolutions, especially UN Security Council resolutions 242, 338 and 425, the land-for-peace principle and all obligations and agreements reached among sides concerned provide for restoring all occupied Arab territories, including the holy Jerusalem, the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, south Lebanon and its western Bekaa to their owners and enabling the Palestinian people to restore their national rights, especially their rights to return, to self-determination and the establishment of their own independent state with Jerusalem as a capital.
The two sides renewed their condemnation of and opposition to the Israeli settlement policy in the occupied Arab Palestinian territories and their deliberate rejection of all measures aimed at Judaizing and annexing the city of Jerusalem.
They asserted rejection to these Israeli measures and viewed them as null and void and urged the government of Israel to implement all its obligations with all Arab sides and to respond to peace calls advocated by Arab and foreign sides, as well as to give up the policies of "flexing muscles" and threatening.
The two sides also reiterated the call to declare the Middle East as a zone free from all weapons of mass destruction and the importance of Israel's joining the NPT as well as of subjecting Israeli nuclear institutions to the inspection of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The two sides called on the international community to have serious consultations to get rid of nuclear weapons and the need of the nuclear states' to commit to eliminating their nuclear weapons.
The two states also asserted their unwavering stand in preserving Iraq's unity and territorial integrity. They expressed their sympathy with the people of Iraq and the importance of the Iraqi government's implementation of all international legitimacy resolution so as to lifting the UN economic embargo imposed on Iraq and putting an end to the sufferings of the Iraqi people.
The two sides also asserted the importance of preserving Sudan's territorial unity and of working to prevent the partitioning of Sudan. They called on all Sudanese factions to respond to the Egyptian-Libyan initiative in order to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation.
The two sides also welcomed every sincere effort aimed at achieving security and stability in Sudan.
The two states, furthermore, stressed their condemnation of all forms of terrorism and its sources due to the dangers it poses to the security of individuals, the interests of people and the stability of communities, noting the importance of collective international efforts to eliminate it.
The two sides also underlined the importance of economic cooperation among the Islamic states and confrontation of all attempts made to "distort our Islamic religion as well as to show off the real picture of Islam."
Concerning relations between the two states, the two sides underlined the importance of the special close bilateral relations as those of two pivotal centers in the region, politically, economically and culturally.
