Report: Cairo waits for the visit of Bashar al-Assad

Diplomatic sources in Cairo have asserted in the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas issued on Tuesday that Cairo is waiting for the arrival of Bashar al-Assad, son of Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, and his meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to resume the friendly relations linking Cairo and Damascus.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti daily added that France's efforts at the present are exerted to bring together the Syrian and Israeli stances concerning the main basics for resuming negotiations between the two sides..
A well-informed Egyptian source commented on the issue of resuming negotiations between Syria and Israel, saying, "This (resuming negotiations) is possible within two weeks."
