UK deputy demands that Arab states resume air trips with Iraq
Iraq-UK, Politics, 11/16/1999

UK Parliament member George Galloway urged the resumption of trips by civilain airplanes to and from Iraq, saying that some practical procedures must be taken to bring civil aviation in Iraq back to normal and adding that it is impossible for the situation to remain as it is concerning the external trips to and from Baghdad.

Galloway stated that demanding the resumption of air trips aims at lifting the sanctions from Iraq, adding that the start must be made by the Arab states.

Galloway also sent a message to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in which he asked Annan to quickly intervene to end the Iraqi people's suffering and to give Iraq the chance to live normally.

Galloway organized a land trip known as the Mariam convey, during which he visited several Arab and European states to express solidarity with the Iraqi children, who have suffered under the sanctions since 1990.
