Hamas accepts evacuation of its office, not members
Jordan, Politics, 11/16/1999
Hamas political bureau member Mousa Abu Marzouk, who was expelled from Jordan, said on Monday that the movement accepts transferring its political bureau from Amman, but it refuses to have its members obliged to leave the country.
Abu Marzouk added from the movement's office in al-Yarmouk camp at the southern entrance of Damascus, that Hamas has no objection "to leave Jordan, but it will not accept its members to leave the country, especially if they are Jordanians."
He expressed his hope to reach "a political solution" to the crisis with the Jordanian government. He simultaneously remarked that the movement "may give up its pledge not to carry out military activities in Jordan."
Meanwhile, the Muslim Brothers group in Jordan said its leadership will meet once more with Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh in a last attempt to solve the case of the Hamas detainees in Jordan.
