Doctors Without Borders stops humanitarian activities in central Somalia
Somalia, Politics, 11/15/1999

The Doctors Without Borders organization said today that it is stopping its humanitarian activities in Galkayo city in central Somalia after a robbery by a force took place in its headquarters on November 10.

A press statement issued by regional informational bureau for the organization in Cairo said today that three unknown persons armed with guns and hand grenades broke into the organization's headquarters in the city and forced the official employee to open the safe under threats, then they took the funds that were in it and fled, adding that this operation took only 15 minutes.

The statement said the organization evacuated its headquarters in the city temporarily and stopped the humanitarian activities it presented there until it can make sure of its employees' safety in this area.
