King Abdullah: Relations between Syria and Jordan are improving
Jordan-Syria, Politics, 11/15/1999

King Abdullah of Jordan has asserted that relations with Syria have become much better than they were before.

In a statement to the al-Wasat magazine issued in London on Sunday, the Jordanian king added, "We were able through the meetings with President Assad to solve all issues that used to tarnish the distinguished ties."

The Jordanian told al-Wasat, "We, and Syria meet on many things," adding that relations at the meantime are continuously growing on various levels and areas. And this is a natural thing."

King Abdullah described Bashar al-Assad as "exemplary of activity, enthusiasm, looking for the future with open mindness," adding that Bashar "carries the concerns of his nation and the aspirations of his people. He has learnt from his father a lot of wisdom, foresightedness and readiness to serve his people and nation."
